The Home that Wowed Me- The WowBatangas Office

With an outsider’s perspective, one may think that the WOW team lives a life of coolness. I mean, being the people behind the only online magazine in the province has the perks of being able to go to places, having the chance of meeting a serious amount of people and of course being in good- facebook profile quality pictures. All of which are for free, that is.

But not all of its grandeurness is all true.

We here at the office, believe it or not, are a serious bunch of men with this serious goal of seriously promoting the seriously rich province of Batangas. And being serious is just half the job.

One requirement of a wow employee is versatility. One must be a jack of all trades, so to speak.

I mean, a writer must not only know how to write a decent article for an occasion may require that he must be a photo- journalist, or a multi- media artist or a marketing person or a software programmer, or (gasp!) a model.

Good thing though is that the HEADS, Sir JR, Ms. Gerlie, Ms. Dyan and Sir Alva are prepping us– aspiring writers, programmers and multi- media artists– to be flexible AND efficient err..people behind an online magazine.

On the other side, or on the cool side, I suppose, is that this office has a rather casual environment.
All of the employees know each other by the first name and anyone at anytime could raise a high five and not make pahiya himself. We dine together, we eat the same ulam, the same merienda and we all take our seats in one dining table.
We’re that close I sometimes- mistakingly- call my bosses p’re. And they won’t mind it; that’s how cool they are.
Moreover, I think that the secret of this office’s coolness is that it is just 5 hops away from the Mataas na Kahoy church.

Corny as it may sound, but I think the sight of it is a good reminder to us—bosess and OJTs alike—to be humble and modest followers of the religion.

And this office we call home or err.. a home we call an office… whatever it is… is bliss.
