What are the best things about Batangas that will make you stay here for the rest of your life?
It’s too general to discuss for there are too many aspects to consider why you should not leave Batangas. The province has become a piece of heaven on earth for travelers who find paradise in the beaches that we have here. Beach resorts in Batangas have become second home for these people, considering these destinations among the best things in our province.
Batangas is known for products which are plenty here or which originate directly from here. I don’t know if it’s a good thing that Batangueños are characterized as matatapang or palaban. In a way it’s a good thing but in some other ways, parang kinatatakutan tayo. Haha. Okay, just take kapeng barako and Batangas balisong as two products which symbolize how brave we are. And these coffee variation and butterfly knife has the trademark of being Batangas or “tatak Batangas”.
Do you want to spend the rest of your lives in the province? There are thousands of Batangueños all over the world. They tried their luck working abroad for better opportunities or greener pastures, ‘ika nga. If not because of those greener pastures, do you think they would go and leave the province behind? We all have reasons for the things we do and the decisions that we make. When you lack reason, you lack motivation. Happiness and fulfillment will be half-baked.
Batangueños are fun-loving people and among the most hospitable ones of all Filipinos. Don’t be swayed by tags that Batangueños are war freaks. I think that’s too much of a bad thing.
There’s more to Batangas than meets the eye (parang si Optimus Prime lang sa Transformers movie ang nagsasalita). Aside from the destinations, products, and people of Batangas, the province still carries a lot of treasures left unrevealed. And it’s for us to unravel.
What makes Batangas a perfect home depends on how you treat your roots. If you take pride on the good and make them even better, Batangas is a destination to forever. But if you only see the not-so-good parcels of your hometown and do nothing but rant about them, that’s a sad fact.
