June 25, Saturday — My family went to Ibaan to attend my cousin’s wedding. Going home, we took the San Jose route and saw this bakery which my tita said is selling the best mamon in town.
What is mamon? Oh, for foreigners who would get to read this, mamon is a soft round pastry which is very similar to sponge cake. Although mamon in local bakeries are more chewy than that of Goldilocks’ or Red Ribbon’s.
Reaching home, my other tita who was in the other van on that trip, was able to buy two boxes of that famous mamon in Maning’s Bakery. Mamon in Maning’s has that certain crunch outside but really chewy inside. A box contains 48 pieces of mamons, perfect for a huge family’s afternoon snack. A box costs P110.
If you’re looking for mamon that’s not too soft and does not appear like a sweet piece of air-filled pastry, Maning’s mamon will satisfy your craving. Kasi mabubusog ka na agad sa tatlong piraso pa lang. And oh, don’t forget to always have a drink at hand each time you eat mamon. 😉
So if you happen to pass by San Jose town proper, Maning’s Bakery is located near the municipal hall and the parish gymnasium. This one’s a good pasalubong from this town. 🙂
