Playing Street Games, Way Back Then

Childhood would not be that memorable if you haven’t tried to play on the street together with your friends, classmates, neighbors.

Who would not agree?

If not all, I’m sure most of us had experienced playing street games, where a child would experience a different thrill and happiness aside from the toys or food that make our day.

Oh well, I’m just missing those times when me and my friends were playing outside the house. There are lots of games we could choose from for us to have fun. A very happy part of one’s childhood — playing.

I remember then, I used to escape from my mother, just to be with my friends for I really don’t like sleeping in the afternoon. I don’t care if she will slap my butt when I came home. Dadapa sa upuan handa sa palo. Haha.

And what are those street games we used to play way back then?

Here are the most popular street games we used to play when we were kids.

Piko
You’re not a Filipino if you don’t know this street game.

Patintero
Also this one, very popular. Enjoyable even if it is tiring.

Chinese garter
A game for girls, but I remember a boy used to play this, too. Haha.

Tumbang preso/lata

Luksong tinik/baka

Jerbase

Another one we used to play, usually after school or break time. Ayun pawisang pawisan palagi.

Hide and seek

Oooopppps! My favorite, especially in the evening. Yes, until evening I used to play this. That’s why my mother was always mad at me, but that was then.

I know these are only few of those games, can you add some more? 😉
