Vilma Santos-Recto, Batangas Governor and re-electionist temporarily postponed her campaign rallies as a sign of respect for her rival Armand Sanchez who died last Tuesday.
“Let’s set aside politics. I don’t know yet what my plans are but I have definitely suspended all my campaign sorties. I cannot imagine myself discussing politics with my constituents given this situation,” Recto said in an interview with reporters at the Alabang Country Club.
The governor also said that she will be visiting the wake of former governor Armando C. Sanchez but firmly requested the absence of media on the said event.
Moreover, she offered Sanchez family to transfer Armand’s wake at the capitol before the burial. But then she stressed that the immediate family’s decision will prevail.
Arman Sanchez, 57, passed away on Tuesday, a day after he suffered from heatstroke while on a campaign sortie in Lipa City.
