July is World Blood Donor’s Month. So for all the able and healthy out there don’t think twice, come on and save lives by becoming a blood donor.
Blood is something we cannot manufacture. We can only obtain it either from kind-hearted volunteer giver or from those money-driven blood donors. And as a rule, greater percentage of better quality Blood comes from volunteer donors. Hence, there is a massive effort under way to recruit this class of donor.
For someone to become a blood donor, that person should be physically fit, healthy and not suffering from a cold, flu or other illness specially at the time of donation. Donors’ blood pressure or (bp) should be within acceptable range of 160/90 to 110/60 and the giver should weigh more than 50kg or 110lbs.
If you think you can be a blood donor, and you’re having second thoughts on becoming one, you may try reading this poem to further inspire you to share blood.
Thoughts of a Donor
I gave my blood:
Christ gave His;
I gave a pint;
He gave all.
The needle is small & sharp,
The Nails were large & dull.
The cot is soft & restful,
The Cross is rough & painful.
The nurses are kind & gentle;
The crowds applaud my sacrifice.
They that passed by reviled Him.
Mine is type “O” positive
His is positively for all.
Mine, at best, will prolong life for a while;
His, without doubt,
Saves all FOREVER.
