LIPA CITY- Thousands of devotees from all over the country flooded to take part in the 6th Annual National Pilgrimage to Lipa, National Day of Prayer for World Peace and Sanctification of the Clergy , Sept.9 -12.
With the theme, Pueblo Amante de Maria Mediatrix of All Grace Called to Proclaim the Good News to Every Asians- priests, parishioners and Marian devotees spent four days of praying and venerating the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The National Day of Prayer started with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Vigil led by Fr. Ading Adan and Fr. Domeng Manes both from Adoracion Nocturna Filipina followed by the Morning Praise.
Meanwhile, the procession from San Sebastian Cathedral to the proposed Parish was done with prayers led by Ms. Lucy Monastrial and the Knights of Columbus as escorts.
As scheduled, the procession arrived at 5:30 am at the Proposed Parish of Mary Mediatrix of All Grace at Antipolo del Norte.
Most Rev. Ramon C. Arguelles, D.D. served as the main celebrant and homilist for the Eucharistic Celebration. After the mass, a one hour breakfast break was called before the recitation of the Holy Rosary and Marian Hymns by Mary Mediatrix Grand Choir.
Confessions were administered by Cathedral clergy and guest priests.
Simultaneously, Ms. June Keithley gave her testimony about the miraculous shower of rose petals which happened decades ago. Keithley’s sharing was followed by a choral presentation courtesy of Lipa Choral Ensemble.
Afterwards, Dr. Mark Miravalle, STD and Msgr. Dr. Arthur Calkins, STD delivered their talks about the holiness and greatness of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The procession from Proposed Parish this time to Carmel Monastery was once more escorted by the Knights of Columbus and with prayers led by Ms. Lucy Monastrial.
The statue of Our Lady Mediatrix of all Grace arrived at the Carmel Monastery at around 2:15 p.m.
Shortly, Most Rev. Ramon C. Arguelles, D.D., gave his welcome address whereas Most Rev. Socrates Villegas, D.D. introduced the Asia Oceania Mariological Conference and Delegates.
Later on, the Seraphim choral group chanted the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
A concelebrated mass led by Cardinal Ricardo Vidal followed and was attended by around 50 delegates from Asia and Oceania at the tent-covered grounds of the Carmel Monastery, which remained dry despite the floods in most parts of Luzon but was comfortably windy and conducive to thousands of people who joined in the mass celebration.
After the Holy Communion, Hon. Mayor Oscar L. Gozos and Mrs. Nilda M. Gozos offered the rosary and flowers to the Blessed Virgin as His eminence, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal led the prayer and crowning of the Blessed Virgin.
Meanwhile, Hon. Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto prayed for the sanctification of Batangas Province.
Following Gov. V.S. Recto’s entreaty, Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo asked for the consecration of the Philippines. “Make us all sincerely share in your redeeming work in our world that the Fathers will may be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.” PGMA prayed.
The day of venerating the Blessed Virgin ended with a prayer for the priests done by Most Rev. Angel N. Lagdameo, D.D.
4th District Congressman, Mark Llandro “Dong”Mendoza was also present in the mentioned event.
Prior to the National Day of Prayer ,a triduum was done at the San Sebasian Cathedral from Sept. 9-11 which included a healing of the sick program led by Fr. Diwane Cacao.
