First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) in Tanauan, Batangas opens the 18th season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association-South (NCAA-South) on September 8, 2016 at its multi-purpose covered court.
This year’s theme is “Let’s Keep the Flame Ablaze”. Hosted by Dyan Castillejo, the event will be attended by Saturnino G. Belen, President of FAITH and Season 18 Policy Board, together with other school, sports, and government executives. Firsrt ever grand champion of Asia’s Got Talent and Tanauan City’s pride El Gamma Penumbra will wow the audience with its heartwarming and amazing shadow play perfromances. A unique, never-before-seen light and sound Drone show will light up the night sky on opening night.
There will be nine sporting events including basketball, volleyball, chess, football, badminton, table tennis, swimming, taekwondo, beach volleyball, and one demonstration sport, the futsal.
To date, NCAA South has 11 member schools namely, First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH); Colegio De San Juan De Letran-Calamba (CSJL); De La Salle Lipa (DLSP); Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas (LPU-B); Philippine Christian UniversityDasmariñas (PCU-D); San Pablo Colleges (SPC); University of Perpetual Help System-Laguna (UPHS-L); San Beda College-Alabang (SBCA); University of Batangas (UB); Saint Francis of Assisi College-Alabang (SFAC); and Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite (EAC), which was officially welcomed by the league in the 15th season.
NCAA-South season 17 was hosted by CSJL with the theme, “Sama-samang Tagumpay Tungo sa Makabagong Ka-Arribang Panahon”.
NCAA-South is an athletic association of colleges and universities mostly coming from NCR (National Capital Region) and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon). It was established in 1999 by sister schools of the NCAA. NCAA-South is an offshoot of the NCAA-Manila.
Season 18 kicks off with the Men’s Basketball match between FAITH and SPC on September 13 at 8 am, followed by EAC vs LPU at 10 am; DLSL vs CSJL at 12 nn; Women’s Basketball at LPU-B vs DLSL at 2 pm; and finally at 4 pm, Men’s Basketball UB vs SBCA.
