Amateur and advanced photographers in and around Batangas gathered for a weekend of polishing up skills as the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. (FPPF), Batangas Provincial Tourism Office, and WOWBatangas.com conducted the 1st Batangas Provincial Photography Workshop.
The workshop would not have been possible if not for the efforts and expertise of the resource speakers from FPPF — Mr. George Cabig, travel photographer and Chairman of PhotoWorld Asia, Mr. Elwin Noche, teacher of photography at De La Salle College of St. Benilde and Malayan Colleges, and Mr. Amir Alba, FPPF faculty member.
The two-day workshop was held at the Batangas Provincial Capitol where 62 amateur and 34 advanced photographers attended. There were even some participants from Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, and Mindoro.
Sir Elwin and Sir Amir tackled the basics of photography including camera functions and techniques. The latter part of Day 1 was intended for actual photo shooting exercises followed by a group critiquing of their outputs.
Sir George shared tips on travel photography for the advanced photographers while Sir Amir discussed the guidelines on singe-light portrait photography. Like on the first day of the event, the advance photographers were tasked to do two exercises in the afternoon session. First was on travel photography where they roamed around Batangas City public market and the second exercise was on portraiture.
The 1st Batangas Provincial Photography Workshop was capped with the awarding of the best photos from the outputs of the basic and advanced workshop exercises.
The best photos are from the following workshop participants:
Day 1 Basic
Day 2 Basic
Advanced – Travel
Advanced – Portraiture
The 1st Batangas Provincial Photography Workshop is in preparation for the Ala Eh! 2012 Photo Contest. The Batangas Provincial Tourism Office, FPPF, and WOWBatangas.com are in full gear for this year’s contest, making sure that the participants will all be at their best competing spirit.
With the purpose of boosting the skills of our local photographers, this workshop will yield into a deeper sense of productivity and creativity as they capture exceptional photos that transcends the beauty of Batangas through the lens.
This workshop is really fantastic! I’ve learned a lot from the speakers. I’ve been waiting for this one and it finally came. It’s worth the wait. Thanks to the Lecturers of Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. (FPPF) that came for this event all the way from Manila, Batangas Provincial Tourism Office, and WOWBatangas.com conducted the 1st Batangas Provincial Photography Workshop. Looking forward for another fruitful workshop like this. Kudos!
