It was a tremendous conclusion for the 429th Foundation Anniversary of Batangas. The Ala Eh! Festival 2010 once again united Batangueños from all over the province as talented street dancers and choreographers battled for the championship title and the cash prizes at stake.
Twelve municipalities competed this year: Lemery, Talisay, San Jose, Nasugbu (high school), Cuenca, Alitagtag, Lipa City, Nasugbu (elementary), Tuy, Agoncillo, Malvar, and Calaca.
The program started with words from Mayor Meynard Sabili of Lipa City, Vice Governor Mark Leviste, and “Ang Ina ng Lalawigan” Governor Vilma Santos-Recto. Gov. Vi gave out one line which we hope had left a mark in the minds of everyone present in the event – “Ang Batangas ay ang Batangueño at ang Batangueño ay ang Batangas”.
Lea De Castro Drums and Dancers contributed much in making the festival a little more festive. It was like Bahamas without the pristine sand and sparkling waves. But still, happy hours were there.
The board of judges was composed by celebrity stylist and beauty expert James Cooper, stage director Floy Quintos, award-winning film director Gil Portes, events consultant George Garbulio, and Villa Escudero’s creative consultant Ambros Azucena.

It seemed like the dancers impressed the judges that the latter decided to give another special award to the group with the youngest performers. And this special award was given to Nasugbu (Balaytigue group).
The winning groups in the 5-Minute Exhibition were truly deserving. The street dancers from Calaca, Agoncillo, and Tuy brought a different kind of entertainment to the crowd. There was a sense of festivity and rejoicing in the air. The Batangueño spirit flourished all throughout the Plaza Independencia. It was a heartfelt event. Ala Eh! Festival made us all proud to be Batangueños.
