I have experienced the best of Batangas at Matabungkay Beach. It offers me and my friends the total beach experience. I really enjoyed the picnic on balsa (raft) and the those floating kubos (hut) there. I think the open beach of Matabungkay has everything you’ll ever need for a perfect summer getaway.
Meanwhile, this quaint barangay of Matabungkay in Lian, Batangas is not just known for its wide beach, clear waters, creamy sand and of course the “BALSA” (Bamboo Beach Raft). Every year this small town comes alive in a colorful celebration — the BALSA FESTIVAL.
The first ever Balsa Festival was held on the 18th of May 2002 aimed to help the local community by bringing back the town’s popularity in the Tourism Map. With the continued support of the Department of Tourism, the Balsa Festival has become an annual event that gives both local and foreign tourists a reason to revisit Matabungkay and experience a different kind of festival.
