Halo-halo, literally means ‘mix’. Halo-halo is a Filipino dessert, but has no definite ingredients as it may vary from every locality, depending on the availability of the fruits and other sweetened ingredients to be mixed with shaved ice, white sugar, and evaporated milk. Famous halo-halo ingredients are: tapioca (sago), red mung beans (munggo), garbanzos, kidney beans, sugar palm fruit (kaong), nata de coco, purple yam (ube), coconut meat (macapuno), sweet potato (kamote), sweetened banana, pounded rice crisp (pinipig), and gelatin. Halo-halo topped with ice cream eventually became a favorite among the locals.
I love halo-halo. A good halo-halo for me is composed of the basic ingredients added with either melon strips or jackfruit (langka) bits – they add that certain aroma that’s so sweet.
I’ve been searching for the best halo-halo in Batangas.
If my memory serves me right, my favorite halo-halo was the one I’ve frequently had in Balayan. During vacation, I would go there with my cousins (my uncle’s wife’s hometown) and I make sure I won’t miss the halo-halo at Espineli’s (my aunt’s family has a canteen). What makes that halo-halo so special is the leche flan topping! They make the best leche flan on earth. Yum.
Then I browsed the net for the best halo-halo here in Batangas. Frequent and top results are halo-halo from Celing and Kainan sa Dalampasigan in Nasugbu and from Casa Rap in San Jose (their ice shavings are from frozen buko juice according to source).

Hi there, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam feedback? If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you can recommend? I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any help is very much appreciated.
