Missing Pakaskas (Palm Sugar Candy)

After lunch, it’s either we crave for something sweet or grab a mamiso. I got myself that triangular mazapan from the store across the street when I remember another sweet tooth delight. Codename: pakaskas. 😀

Pakaskas, for those who would mistaken this as ice shaving, is a snack/sweet treat made of palm sugar, liquified then put into the palm leaves mold like this one until it solidifies:

It’s snack for some but it’s more of a candy to me. Just like how our favorite candies woo our mouth.

Speaking of lalagyan, naisip mo ba kung gaano ka-earth friendly and packaging ng pakaskas?

Buri or buli is the largest palm tree in the country.

It’s how you will appreciate simple things as the pakaskas that will make the experience a sweet one.
