How Batangueños Become Successful

Batangueños are known for their strength, for their determination, and for their strong religious faith.

Times could get hard and could be a bit more frustrating but we have our own way of the dealing with things. We laugh it out or drink it out, haha. And when we want something, we sure are to get that something.

Last night, former Communications teammate, Joel posted on his Facebook status the best news of his day. He passed the September 2011 Licensure Examination for Teachers. He tagged in his post his college instructors who played a huge part in his achievement.

And then some other Facebook friends shared their latest feat. I remember how I digested the same news myself when I passed the 2009 LET. It was our team leader JR who texted me about it and when I opened the homepage of this site, I saw the congratulatory post sliding on the then featured portion of WOWBatangas.com.

It was minutes before 8 in the morning. I hurriedly ran downstairs to look for my parents but came across my grandma and my uncle first, hugged my lola and then cried. The victory was that sweet. But the ‘getting there’ phase which was bluntly difficult was the reason why the positive result pushed me to become overjoyed.

People become successful (1) when they are determined to accomplish things, (2) when they are equipped with the needed skills and knowledge (3) if it’s the right time for victory.

Sometimes, no matter how capable you are, no matter how often you prayed or how many saints you have called on for help, if it’s not meant to be yours, you would not get it. Or maybe, God opted for a bit of delay so you could prepare for the big thing.

Recall the stories of our fellow Batangueños and how they had achieved success. Jovit Baldivino who was once a siomai vendor in Rosario is now among the most in demand music artists of the country. He’s got the talent. He joined the right contest at the right time. Victory was his.

I think Jovit inspired the next Batangueños who tried their fortune in Pilipinas Got Talent. Joy’s Divas from Batangas City entered the finals of the second season. El Gamma Penumbra of Tanauan City wowed us in season three. Like Luis Manzano’s disposition, I still believe they should have ended as champion of the last season.

This is how Batangueños become successful – with determination, perseverance, and a whole lot of Ala Eh! humor.

To all the new Batangueño licensed teachers, kudos!
