DSLR, Nintendo DS and Sony PSP: Three of the Gifts our Godchildren would Demand this Coming Holidays

Christmas is once again nearing and more often than not, you irresponsible ninongs and ninangs out their are readying up your invisible cloaks.

I get you guys for I am a ninong myself. And I could just not help but be uhmmm… annoyed to hear the gifts my nieces and nephews want for Christmas.

I mean, come on, DSLRs? PSPs? Nintendo DSs?

Where have the longings for trumpos and fake bozo the clown watches have gone?

Indeed, change comes with time and technological advancements.

Anyway, we ninongs and ninangs can’t be too irresponsible, eh? At least, we know in in the softest gallows of our hearts, that to consider things of joys of our inaanaks is the least thing that we could possibly do.

Here are some of the things the little ones could possibly request when the holidays come:

DSLR cameras

Unless you are a rich, blasphemous being, then a DSLR camera is not a good idea for a Christmas, birthday, or heck any kind of occassions give aways.

See, this kind of Gizmo would cost around 30 thousand pesos at the very least.

If you could afford one and have it as a gift to your loved ones then well… congratulations, you are one lucky folk.

Game Consoles

This is one of the almost affordable presents to dole out on the holidays.

Hand held game consoles, are a sure hit among the young and the young once, definitely. And its price of 7 thousand to 11 thousand pesos is ideally attainable.

Question is, what is the better gadget?

The top choices here would be the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP. ( I’m disregarding here the China mades for the reasons you all know)

Upon the three gadget stores that I have inquired upon, the Sony PSP is deemed to be the better one. The store managers told me that the game selections available for the PSP are more challenging and the graphics, too, are more advanced compared to that of the DS’.

The DS’ strong point is on the aesthetics. Those dual touch screens may well be the selling point for those who favor looks over substance.

Wifi, Bluetooth and hi-end audio amongst other features are available on both.

The telling criteria for this two would have to be the price. The brand new PSP would sell for 8,500 to 11,000 pesos depending on the variant. (PSP 3000, PSP Go, PSP Slim and PSP Fat) while the Nintendo DS’ price would start around 7,500 pesos also depending on the kind. (Nintendo DS Lite and DS XL)

I say bat for the Sony PSP. It might be a tad pricier than the Nintento, pero, bibili ka na rin laang, diga?

Moreover, there would always be second hand buys which start around six thousand pesos. The second hands may be updated with the latest games + more.

*****

They are only some of the Christmas presents which our nephews would demand this coming holidays.

A call to the ninongs and ninangs out there, please visit the nearest malls and take a look at the aforementioned gadgets.

And remember that our being Godfathers and Godmothers does not end with the candle ceremony. Let us guide them to the brightest of futures and make them happy and satisfied via holiday give-aways.

Though it is a fact that today’s gadgets may not be approved of by our measly budgets.

If so, let’s just give them trumpos and second rate watches and make believe that the adage ” it’s the thought that counts” is true even in this era of materialism.
