Yesterday, September 13, 2009, SM City Lipa celebrated the special day for Grandparents. The whole day celebration jumpstarted with a holy mass attended by Lipa City Senior Citizens and their families
In his homily, Fr. Ernesto Mandanas said that the young ones must look up to their lolos and lolas as examples. “During their time, our dear lolos and lolas know how to “mag-agwanta” and “magarimuhanan” (ariin mo muna iyan), values which are no longer practiced by most young people today. “The younger generation nowadays only know the idea of ‘paggasta’ and not ‘pag-agwanta’,” Fr. Mandanas stressed. Fr. Mandanas before concluding with his homily also honored the grandparents and offered a very touching prayer for them.
In the afternoon of the same day, a grandparents’ variety show was held the the SM City Lipa Event center. There were vocal solos, dance numbers and fashion show, all participated by our oldies but goodies lolos and lolas. Here are the names of all the groovy gandmoms who did stiking poses during the Lolas’ fashion show: Mrs. Cecile Sebastian, Mrs. Nalie Mindanao, Mrs. Nita Dimaano, Mrs. Lumen Perada, Mrs. Lulu Quizon, Mrs. Ising Vinas, Mrs. Mely Tenorio, Mrs. Tacing Fabunan, Mrs. Celia Aranda, Mrs. Lina de Guzman, Mrs. Vicky Umali, Mrs. Mita Illustre, Mrs. Helen Libtor, Mrs. Ofelia Magtibay and Mrs. Noli Rosales.
The program concluded with the “pinakamaraming apo” challenge. And this cool lola in red, (the one being interviewed in the photogallery) won the challenge with an amazing number of 70 grandchildren.
Meanwhile, SM City Lipa extends its celebration of grandparents day. A film viewing (launching of free movie for Senior citizens) and free computer training will be held today Sept. 14, all for our dear lolos and lolas.
Exactly what I needed for my paper. Thank you very much. I will post a link back to you when I have it done (maybe before Christmas).
