The Goal-Getters and Why You Should Read this Post

For the past two years (almost), this website had been my everyday (almost) ally in my battle against writer’s block and whether a personal blog or a Batangas-related blog should be done first. Really, I don’t know where I’m heading with this one. I can’t even find the right words to connect yet I still continue typing.

I enjoy challenging myself. May pagka-eng-eng din ako kung minsan. There, I know na. What could be the greatest achievement you could ever have in your lifetime?

Batanguenos in nature are goal-getters. In general, we Filipinos are. If Jovit Baldivino did not try his luck in Pilipinas Got Talent season one, he wouldn’t be where he is right now. He wouldn’t have those international concerts, the iPad and the car he owns, this early.

If Manny Pacquiao did not pursue a life in boxing, where do you think he is right now? If Filipinos did not revolt against the oppression of foreign regimes, we won’t have our own identity. That’s all because they have goals. They know what they want and they searched for ways to get it.

This year, I said I’d conquer Pinas (if i would be lucky enough in chancing up with cheap fares, haha).  I’d grow my hair longer and have those hot beach waves in zen or red auburn. Before I turn a year older again, an article would be published in an international publication with my name on the by line.

When we were younger, we had lots of dreams. Some of them, the world knows about. Some of them, you try to leave unspoken. Why was it such a breeze for us to know what we want when we were young? Why is it that when we have the greater capabilities to reach them, it’s the time we just let them get out of our grip?

Remember, in Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist: when you want something, the universe will conspire in helping you achieve it. (I wonder how many times I’ve made this line appear here in my previous blog entries)

Are you up for the challenge? Go get what you want. At your best and never at anyone’s expense.

Why I say you should read this post? ‘Cause I have the goal of at least remind you, if not inspire you, to go after what you want. 😉
