Since it’s only two days to go before Christmas, might as well give you something to ponder on this holiday season. If you haven’t got a gift for your loved ones yet, I tried to list down 12 gifts of Christmas that would surely leave an impact and last for the longest time possible in the lives of whomever you choose to give these to.
Here it goes.
1. The Gift of Generosity. We often hear the line “it’s better to give than to receive”. This is the time of the year when most people become so generous, but this should not ‘expire’ when the holidays end.
2. The Gift of Friendship. Why not pick up the phone and reconnect with old friends? It’s one easy way to make them feel important. Tell them how much you miss your bonding times together and try to schedule a mini-reunion with them.
3. The Gift of Honesty. If you’ve done something wrong and you haven’t said sorry for what you did, now’s the time to be honest with whom you’ve done wrong.
4. The Gift of Kindness. Donate something to charity. Feed streetchildren who ask for alms. Help your parents prepare Noche Buena. There are lots of things you can do with kindness.
5. The Gift of Faith. Strengthen your relationship with God. Encourage your entire family to attend mass for Christmas or pray the rosary before having the Noche Buena. These are just simple acts. All you got to do is to feel it within. After all, this celebration is for Him and because of Him.
6. The Gift of Time. Probably the cheapest yet the sweetest way on making someone feel special is spending quality time with him or her. You can do this even by just having a conversation over cups of coffee. For some, time could be the most precious gift to have this season.
7. The Gift of Forgiveness. And if someone asked you for forgiveness, don’t be bitter about it. Forgive. You may not easily forget the wrong thing someone has done that have offended or hurt you but it’s the time to forgive and unload the burden in your heart.
8. The Gift of Hope. If a friend or a relative is having some troubles in his/her life, encourage him/her to continue fighting. Sharing something that would bring hope to him/her would somehow lift the weakening spirit.
9. The Gift of Peace. If you’ve been involved with arguments and misunderstandings lately, this is the perfect time to talk things through and rebuild broken bridges before things get worse.
10. The Gift of Trust. For some, this is a hard thing to do. Is your daughter start asking permission to go out on a date? Is your son asking you to use the family car when he goes out with his friends? Learn how to trust them and make them understand that it comes with responsibility they have to keep.
11. The Gift of Love. Tell your parents how much you love them. Sometimes, it only takes three words to let them know how much you value and appreciate them.
12. The Gift of Prayer. In this times of troubles, we may not be able to give donations to those who are needy. But this could be the best gift you could give to those who have been hit by calamities, to those who have been victims of henious crimes, to those who are in the bed of illness.
Share these gifts to the world. Make it a better place for everyone not just for Christmas but for the rest of time. Happy Holidays!
