Why Christmas is the Most Wonderful Time of the Year?

I’ve been creating Christmas posts almost everyday and I hope you permit me to have such articles until the 25th. It’s my own little way of sharing this holiday season with you. 😉

Last year, Dec. 23, 2009 to be exact, I made this 12 Gifts of Christmas article and I was so delighted when I learned that our Spiritual Food contributor, Fr. Jojo Mendoza, based his homily on what I’ve written. I’ll repost the article next week.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. So cliché-ish. But it’s true, isn’t it? Especially for kids. Earlier in the first day of Simbang Gabi, kids from Children’s Joy Foundation did an adorable caroling before the mass ended. Children’s Joy Foundation gives hope to orphans and abandoned kids by providing them food, shelter, clothes, education, and a brand new life.

It felt like I was pinched in the heart when they started singing. Oh man, that is the kind of feeling that speaks of gratefulness – I’m grateful for the kind of life I have and I’m grateful for the people who gave these kids the chance to live a better life.

Christmas is the time of the year when children hold on tightly to their hopes, dreams, and wishes. Whether these are asked directly to God or to Santa Claus, they would patiently wait until they all come true.

There are children who wish for new toys or the latest Sony gadget. There are those who asked for intangible gifts like love, security, and happiness. And there are kids who hope for something as great as a miracle.

This year, make a child truly happy. He/She may be your child, your nephew/niece, godson/goddaughter, or a kid you don’t really know. Nothing beats the youthful sound of a child’s laughter and a thankful smile on his/her face.
