Are you one of those people who grab the newspaper early in the morning? With the emergence of e-readers such as Apple’s iPad and Amazon’s Kindle, is the end for newspaper and other print media be at any time soon?
In a Yahoo! article today, Japan’s Asahi Shimbun will stop publishing their section in the International Herald Tribune and instead push for digital publishing to cater a growing population of e-readers globally. Think of the Philippine Star and the Philippine Daily Inquirer losing its offline/conventional readers.
Personally, I don’t think that print media will die out. Or probably, not in the succeeding decades. As long as there are trees to turn into papers, aw! Despite the coming out of gadgets with a synonymous purpose as that of the print media, I know newspapers and magazines will continue to live and serve its readers all over the world.
Digital content is publishing giants’ answer to the advancement of technology where media is no exemption. But for countries where electronic gadgets are not considered a necessity and lives do not depend on online connection, newspaper/magazine remains king.
