Holy Wednesday, the day in the Biblical history when Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ in exchange of 30 silver coins. Betrayal is one of the most painful experiences a person could go through. Have you been betrayed? You wouldn’t even want to recall such instance, right?
Betrayal (n.) — the act or fact of violating the trust or confidence of another (mw1.m-w.com)
This was the day when Judas Iscariot discreetly talked to Sanhedrin and committed treason at the expense of Jesus Christ so as to receive his much coveted amount. This event is too prevalent today, when people are hungry for power, money, fame, and easier life. If Jesus Christ himself suffered the consequences of hurtful betrayal, what more could it be for us His children?
How can you avoid betrayal? Life does not promise that we can be prevented from such unfortunate experience. What can you do? Choose your friends wisely; choose the people you can truly trust – those whom you can entrust your life with. From a conversation with a friend yesterday, when asked what he plans to do for the Holy Week vacation, he replied — “will stay at home, edit friends”. Huh? Yes, heard that correctly, edit friends.
Not in social network accounts but in real life. Know the people who are worthy of your trust, time, love, and everything in between. There will be instances that conflicts may arise between you and the people you agree with the most.
Weather the storm but never stain anyone’s reputation just because your anger leads you to do so. Once you’ve said ugly things, there’s no way you can take them back. Once you’ve done bad things, the consequences might be out of your control.
Life is not always a bed of roses or a box of chocolates. Life may at times be a crown of thorns or pit of snakes. Okay, that last one is ugly and creepy. But no matter how hard the situation may become, treat others the way you want to be treated.
Have a meaningful Holy Week everyone.
If you’re cross is getting heavier than the last time you carried one, lift it up to Him. Keep the faith. 🙂
