Fun, Food, Faith in the New City | 438th Batangas Province Founding Anniversary

Earlier this year, Sto. Tomas is officially the newest component city of Batangas Province. It is the reason why the new city is chosen as the venue for the 438th Batangas Province Founding Anniversary with the theme Fun, Food, Faith in the New City.

Simple yet meaningful as they start the 438th Batangas Province Founding Anniversary with a Thanksgiving Mass and Healing Liturgy at National Shrine of Padre Pio at Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Present in the said event is Hon. Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Hon. Vice Governor Mark Leviste, Hon Mayor Edna P Sanchez, Hon. Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office Head Atty. Sylvia Marasigan and Batangas Tourism Council Chairman Juan P. Lozano. After the Thanksgiving Mass, a plaque of recognition is given to the National Shrine of Padre Pio for it’s a valuable contribution to Faith Tourism here in Batangas.

As part also of the 438th Batangas Province Founding Anniversary, First Asia Institute of Technologies and Humanity (FAITH) hosted a 3×3 Basketball League or “Pambansang Tatluhan” in partnership with United Calabarzon Collegiate League and Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas. SBP 3×3 Pambansang Tatluhan is a national program, especially for the grassroots level. 240 youths from different schools, barangays and out of school youths are encouraged to join in a 3 vs 3 Basketball game in different gender and age categories.

According to Mr. Lito Arim, UCCL Project Director, leagues like this enable them to motivate kids in joining sports activities and let them learn from playing sports. This also helps them find kids with extra-ordinary talents in sports.

A luncheon and Governor’s dialogue with Batangas Forum is also held at NDN Grand Hotel, Sto Tomas, Batangas. Batangas Forum is a Non-Government Organization that pursues projects and programs being brought out and presented by each official member for the benefit of the Batangas Province. An open forum is headed by Batangas Forum President, retired Major General Dindo Dimapilis and the Batangas Forum Chairman, former Tanauan Mayor Paquito Lirio to discuss plans, programs and other suggestions for the good of the province.
