Jeepney Fare Hike Starts Today, from P7.00 to P8.00

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board finally approved the fare hike starting today, February 2, 2011. The minimum fare rose from P7.00 to P8.00 (at least in Luzon).

The minimum fare P8.00 is for the first five kilometers but LTFRB said there is no increase in the next kilometers or so. The 20% discount still applies and was emphasized that if jeepney drivers and operators fail to give the said discount to students and senior citizen, necessary sanctions would be given to them for overpricing.
