Taal Volcano Status Lowered to Alert Level 1

Alert level for Taal Volcano is now down to alert level 1. Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) declared the alert level 1 status of Taal Volcano on Monday.

Due to heightened volcanic activities, the alert level of Taal Volcano was raised to alert level 2 on June 8. PHIVOLCS decided to lower the alert status as they have recorded only five volcanic quakes for the past three weeks.

Although the alert level was lowered down, there are still some declared danger zones where media people and tourists are not allowed to go to. The main crater of the volcano remains hazardous as there could be sudden steam explosions and toxic gases emissions.

Meanwhile, there is still a strict reminder for the settlers in the vicinity of Taal Volcano as the island remains a permanent danger zone.
