It’s Holy Week next week. For us Roman Catholics, it’s the time of the year when we practice our religiosity more than any other season. We hear mass, we do little sacrifices, we reflect. Although some of us would consider this time for a relaxing vacation somewhere far away from home.
How will you observe the Lenten season this year? Will you be out of town for a pilgrimage? Will you be out of the country for a 3-day vacation? Or will you just stay at home and have a silent observance of the Holy Week?
Last year we gave you Holy Week destinations in Batangas. This year, we want to hear from you. How will you spend the Holy Week?
Batangueños embrace religiosity and that’s very apparent when the Lenten season begins. Like in any other parts of the country, we do common Catholic practices like having the pabasa (reading of Pasyon), joining processions and vigils, Visita Iglesia, etc. Batangueños, and Filipinos in general, prepare much with all these Holy Week traditions in the Philippines.
Spend Holy Week in any way you want. But keep in mind the reason behind this season. Take a rest and keep your burdens off your shoulders for now. See your life moving in front of you like a slideshow and reflect on how your life has been for the past days, months, years. Maybe then you will realize what this season really means.
