Let’s bring back the ’90s!

The music, the TV shows, the fashion, the fad, etc. Don’t you just miss them?

There are sooo many things included in the pop culture of this decade. Let’s try recalling the most prominent ones here in the Philippines and abroad.

’90s MUSIC

The decade brought more Pinoy bands to rising. Hitting the mainstream were Eraserheads, The Youth, Introvoys, After Image, Rivermaya, Parokya ni Edgar, Wolfgang, Razorback, among many others. While on the other part of the globe, bands like Nirvana, No Doubt, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cranberries, and R.E.M. created huge following all over the world.

Who would forget about ’90s boy bands? I’m sure most of you girls went gaga over the Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, Boyzone, Westlife, 98 Degrees, as well as the much-compared bands Hanson and The Moffats.

The ’90s was also a favorable decade for women as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and the girl band Spice Girls empowered the female population with their music.

’90s TV Shows

Locally, the nineties was also a prosperous year for Pinoy soap operas. Among the well-followed teleseryes during the ’90s were Mara Clara, Mula Sa Puso, Esperanza, Valiente, Anna Luna, and Villa Quintana.

Do you still remember some US TV series which had also became popular here in the Philippines? Oh, we’ve got quite a number! Who can still remember the action-adventure series, MacGyver? How about the hot babes of Baywatch?

The ’90s will always be remembered for F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and how Jennifer Aniston became the goddess of the layered haircut. If the US had Beverly Hills 90210, we had T.G.I.S. and Gimik!

Who went crazy over these stuffs? Tamagotchi, Pokemon, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat games, pogs, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Troll Dolls, Polly Pocket, bell-bottoms, midriff tops, slap bracelets, baggy pants. I missed something? They’re too many to mention!
