The earth’s longest solar eclipse was experienced today. (8:30 a.m. in the Philippines, partial solar eclipse). Here is the picture of the partial solar eclipse as viewed from Quezon City, Philippines.
The path of the eclipse begins in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and China. After leaving mainland Asia, the path crosses Japans Ryukyu Islands and curves southeast into the ocean. According to reports, a small portion of Japan had seen and experienced the longest eclipse.

This July 22 2009 total solar eclipse is considered to be the longest in 21st century. The eclipse has a record of six minutes and 39 seconds, an incredibly long duration of totality, compared to other solar eclipses.
