The Anatomy of the ‘Robbed’ Belt (Aftermath of the Pacquaio-Bradley Fight)

I am no boxing expert and I only watch a match if it’s Pacquiao who’s up for a title. But I would still try to dissect what yesterday’s uproar was all about — the anatomy of the ‘robbed’ belt.

There’s no doubt that both fighters trained so hard for this match. Manny Pacquiao was in good shape and so is Timothy Bradley. Well, the latter’s post-fight condition is an exception (he came to the post-fight press conference in a wheelchair).

There’s robbery in Las Vegas!

A lot of people who watched the fight screamed that Pacquiao was robbed in this match and that the Filipino congressman should have won the fight and the stats were clearly showing it. So why in the world only one of the judges favored Pacquiao and the other two sided Bradley?

The Scorecards

Judges CJ Ross and Duane Ford had 115-113 in their scorecards that favored Timothy Bradley to win the match while the overruled judge, Jerry Roth also had 115-113 but in favor of Pacquiao.

After the fight, Top Rank’s Bob Arum dubbed the judges “the three blind mice”. Even Roth who sided Pacquaio was dragged. Ha!

The scorecards were lying.

Most boxing experts clearly thought that it was Pacman who should have been declared winner and claimed that he dominated at least 8 of the 12 rounds.

Out of 493 power shots, Pacquiao landed 190 while Bradley had 108 of 390. As for the total of punches, Pacquiao landed a total of 253 of 751, while Bradley made 159 of 839.

Bradley was hurt.

Pacquiao - Bradley fight - commentaries - rematch - split decisionThe undefeated Timothy Bradley now endures a swollen right foot and torn ligaments with possibility of fractures on his left foot.

The undefeated Timothy Bradley exclaimed that Pacquiao “is a beast”. Before the announcement of the results, Arum even quoted Bradley saying “I tried hard, but I couldn’t beat the guy” — so most likely deep inside Timothy, the decision was a sweet revelation and a dream come true.

The undefeated Timothy Bradley beat who we think is, still, the world’s best fighter.

Beating Manny Pacquiao is probably every boxer’s dream now and the undefeated Timothy Bradley just checked that item off his bucket list (if ever he has one), for goodness’ sake!

Unlimited undefeated Timothy Bradley there and I’m not stopping here.

The Undefeated Timothy Bradley likes hugging and running, so he won.

PBB Teens? Haha. You’re probably one of the millions who tuned in to yesterday’s match. You saw a number of hugging and running. These annoying strategies of Bradley hindered Pacman from attacking.

So you would agree that Pacquiao dominated most of the rounds but in the 10th round, it seemed he gave that away. And that round gave the judges signs of lapses in Pacquiao’s intensity, providing advantages to Bradley.

There were comments that Pacquiao’s power must be declining. Is it? Or Bradley is just one good fighter that any boxer, even THE Manny Pacquiao, should not underestimate?

It’s quite frustrating that we did not see that fiery punching-his-own-two-gloves from Pacquiao as this gesture signals how he eagerly wanted to put the fight to an abrupt end. Pacquiao was not able to knock Bradley down. But the split decision was way frustrating than that.

Pacquaio was robbed!

Pacquiao believed that he won the fight “100%”. The judges’ decision caught him by surprise but being the humble guy that he is, Pacman respects the result. But his supporters and legions of fans across the globe just can’t be tamed.

Rematch! Rematch! Rematch! But NOT in Vegas again!

Yes, you and everyone, except Bradley’s camp and Ross and Ford, were reasonable to think that the result was unfair to Pacquiao. That 10th round was not enough hole for the People’s Champ to sink into.

Oh, it all happened in the Sin City after all.

Dear Bob Arum, is this a ‘fixed’ match?

You were calling for investigation. But if there’s any truth to speculations that this match was just a trick for you to stage a rematch that will make you huge amount of money again, you got to face our Pambansang Kamao yourself!

Manny Pacquiao is still the world’s greatest boxing champ. He lost a belt to Bradley but accepted it in good faith. He resembles a Filipino boxer with a good heart and with that, he remains to be the Fighting Pride of the Philippines.

Thank you for making your country proud. Kudos to you! Now go back to the House of Representatives.
