Today is World Teacher’s Day. Aside from our parents, we can credit who we are today to our teachers. If not for them, there won’t be doctors, nurses, lawyers, business tycoons, etcetera.
In our entire life as a student, we meet a lot of teachers along the way. There are those we recognize only by the way they dress or the way they move. But there are those we recognize by heart – those who made a significant difference in our lives not just as students but as individuals who will embark on a challenging journey after leaving school.
Can you still recall the full name of the teacher who left a huge influence in your life? What was the lesson he/she taught you that you will never forget?
I have one. I don’t know if she would be happy with me sharing this because it would make her appear old, haha. We’ve known each other for years even before she became my teacher. She was my teacher and at the same time our adviser for the college newspaper.
Surely, I’ve learned a lot from her in the confines of the classroom, for if not, I wouldn’t have passed her subjects, wouldn’t have graduated college and that would be so sad.
But it was after college when our relationship surpassed being teacher-student. We’ve been together at work for three years now and we’ve been through a lot that would require me three long years as well to tell you the stories.
Even as friends and colleagues, I still consider her a teacher, for I’m continually learning a lot about life from her. Only now, I play the teacher role when she’s the one who’s down.
We’ve learned a lot from each other because she’s one of my strongest allies in this big, big world. She constantly reminds me that it makes a whole lot of difference if you remain positive about life. She pushes me to achieve my dreams and to not be afraid of doing whatever I want to do in life.
It’s World Teacher’s Day today. Take time thank your teachers for all that they’ve done for you. Take it from me, it would mean so much for them to feel appreciated and loved.
I forgot to mention the name of the teacher I was talking about earlier. That’s Gerlie, my former Linguistics teacher, WOWBatangas Teammate, the other half of Girlyana, and my soul sistah. 😉 Oh, and advance Happy Birthday! Cheers!
Before I end this, there are two must-see movies that teachers and students can take inspiration from – 3 Idiots and Taare Zameen Par (Every Child is Special) – both are Bollywood films and are two of the best movies I’ve seen.
Happy Teacher’s Day, dear teachers! 🙂
i think it should be ‘taught’ not ‘thought’ 🙂
Happy Teacher’s day 🙂
Oh my! Haha. Yes, that’s taught and not thought! Sorry, slip of the, er, typing fingers. Haha. Thank you Apol. 🙂
