A chap from Talisay, Batangas, Kenly Heywood Anillo, just won himself his first DSLR camera.
”First?” You might ask.
He topped WOWBatangas’ “MY HOMETOWN’S FINEST PHOTO CONTEST” through a point and shoot digital camera and got himself a red Canon 1100D—his first SLR.
The 19 year old college stud has always been a fan of photography. And he is now a living proof that good, no, great photos may only take an eye for picturesque sceneries and smart concepts… and that expensive gadgets would only come as a bonus.
His picture was taken at Balidbirin, Buco, Talisay, Batangas which shows local children who enjoy fishing in Taal Lake. “Nagandahan kasi ako sa idea na masaya ‘yung mga bata tapos bulate lang ‘yung mga pain nila at maganda din ang mga ulap noong araw na ‘yon. Napakasimple pero napakaganda na para sa akin”. True enough, over 2,070 “liked” the stand out picture.
In his speech, he thanked folks from Talisay who helped him from the get go and was more than proud that he only used a point and shoot and did his best. Audience and other contestants alike were simply awed by his feat.
I asked Kenly, who I find as a dead- serious guy and who I guess was only by himself that afternoon, if he’d sell that brand new camera of his, he answered “hindi po, gagamitin ko talaga ‘to” I said “dapat lang idol”. God knows what he can do if he pairs a better camera with his talent.
The runners up for MY HOMETOWN’S FINEST PHOTO CONTEST are:
Marco Vizconde of Mataasnakahoy, Batangas
Jose Sundy L. Alvarez of Mataasnakahoy, Batangas
Victor Luna of San Jose, Batangas
Charlie de Grano Mendoza of Talisay,Batangas
Moreover, Miss Gerlie Katimbang and Mr. JR Cantos of WOWBatangas.com conducted a seminar on proper DSLR and Digital Camera (point and shoot) usage respectively.
The audience of the MY HOMETOWN’S FINEST PHOTO CONTEST awarding program, too, was entertained by a number of songs by Guitartutee.com’s Reinier Manigbas (acoustic guitar), JR Cantos (Beatbox), and Dayne Clanor (vocals).
We here at WOWBatangas are truly proud that we discover and even highlight such stories. We indeed salute people who favor skill over tools.
Congratulations to all of the contestants and to all the winner! May we continue to promote this grand land of ours! And of course, let us not forget our Sponsors who made all these possible.
