As a continuously growing team composed of young ingenious minds, the space for improvement is like the immensity of the horizon across the sea.
From Batangas, the team journeyed to Manila with high hopes of exploring new things that we could put altogether for the betterment of the team’s individual skills and the competence of the team as a whole.
It’s the second day of the 15th Edition of Graphic Expo back-to-back with the Photo Video Expo (PVX) here at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia. Some of the known names who brought this event were Canon, Business Mirror, Business World, The Philippine Star, PC World. The expo was organized by Fiera Manila, Inc.
Aww, this expo just awakened my longing to finally have my own DSLR! Canon was one of the exhibitors in the expo. The cameras on display were like pricey bubblegums and gummy candies on a candy store and I was like a little girl craving for all that’s in front of me.
We only entered in the Hall 1 where quite a number of digital printing businesses were present to exhibit their services. At madami pang iba! Aside from tarpaulins that flooded inside the venue, there were of course digital and even 3D pictures on display for the galleries of camera clubs who took part in the expo.
And then an hour before we have our lunch, we spotted a photographer who spoke for Canon and Philippine Center for Creative Imaging and shared a brief talk about the basics of photography.
We all know how huge Mall of Asia is. So attempting to conquer Asia’s biggest shopping mall for just about a couple of hours is suicide. Haha. We started roaming around in pairs for an hour or two then went back to SMX Convention Center.
After meeting the team there, we learned that Philippines’ award-winning filmmaker, Jason Magbanua, will dropped by the activity area for a short presentation. This is exciting. I first learned about Jason Magbanua when celebrity couple Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago got married and Jason was their wedding videographer.
And since then, I made a deal with myself that when the time comes for me to get married, I would definitely have Jason to film my own wedding. Geez, I know I’d have to work really really hard to save up for his professional fee! Haha.
Around 4pm (or 4:30pm), one of Jason’s wedding videos were projected on the screen in front of the stage. I can feel the emotions overflowing from that video. Amazing. Or as Jason would put it, provocative. And then somebody over the mic greeted the crowd good afternoon and introduced himself, Jason Magbanua. Whoa. It’s the first time I’m seeing this brilliant visual guy in person.
Nakakamangha. I didn’t know he’s such a good speaker. He shared his 10 years of being in the wedding filmmaking industry and yes, he’s more comfortable being tagged as wedding filmmaker than wedding videographer, out of fancy daw.
As he spoke about the cameras he’d been using and all the technologies he befriended for the past decade, I had epistaxis (well, figuratively). But then it was still a wonderful experience listening to one guy who’s considered king in the industry where he had already gained the respect of his public.
All eyes were glued on him. And I’m all ears. Ang galing n’ya. Ang galing galing talaga. What strucked me the most was when he answered a very simple question: “What is your inspiration?” Jason loved the question and we loved his answer. “I love what I’m doing,” Jason responded with his genuine smile. Even if he sounded like a motivational speaker than a techie guy sharing his expertise, we all got his point. And it strucked me. Kahit ilang beses ko nang narinig ang linyang sinabi n’ya.
Thank you, Jason Magbanua. For your videos, for your crazy antics, for your joyful grin. And most importantly, thank you for giving us another push to continue the work that we’re passionate about. Even if it takes 10 years or more just as how Jason did it, we’ll live up to what we believe in all because we love what we’re doing.
That ends our Mall of Asia trip. Until the next adventure! Dyan over and out!
