The Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) commended Batangas City for its cleanliness in the organization’s recently concluded 3rd quarterly meeting, August 20-22. ATOP’s president, Roselyn Merlin remarked that a city’s cleanliness is one key for the growth of its tourism industry.
The officers praised the cleanliness of the city particularly that of the Calumpang River. They were impressed that there are no squatters along the riverbank making the view even more pleasant. Furthermore, the mural paintings on the dike are plus factor to the beautification of Calumpang.
Visiting different towns and cities around the country is part of ATOP’s yearly activities. During their visits, they tackle tourism issues of the local government – their plans and programs, the progress and the problem each municipality encounters and eventually assist the local government officers about the resolutions they have to formulate.
The 26 ATOP officers were welcomed by the Secretary to the Mayor, Luz Amparo. She recounted the city’s tourism plans and activities and distributed the officers’ souvenirs from Mayor Eduardo Dimacuha.
