The Transportation Development and Regulatory Office (TDRO) in Batangas City is strictly imposing the law against colorum tricycles prohibiting the tricycle drivers to operate without the required franchise. This law is under Article IV, Section V and Article 10, Section 46 of the Revised Tricycle Franchising Ordinance.
TDRO Chief, Architect Fe Vellion stated its objective to diminish the number of tricycle operators or drivers moving around town without the necessary permit. There are some who take advantage by telling that their tricycles are intended as personal service of their businesses or sometimes as school service but are seen on the streets as public vehicle.
Those who would violate this TDRO law will pay a fine of P1, 500. TDRO is working hand in hand with Batangas PNP and DSS in imposing this law.
Furthermore, Vellion said that their office is open for tricycle operators who want to get a franchise. They only have to comply with the requirements before acquiring one.
