Lemery has gained another beauty queen. Christina Trishia Rosas is the newly crowned Binibining Lemery Global 2012.
Although the program started too late, the audience patiently waited and began cheering when the pageant hosts Simon Erwin Querrer and Diane Querrer went on stage.
As inspired by the recently concluded American Idol Season 11, the hosts introduced the judges first before anything else. The board of judges were composed of Mr. Avelino Mortel, Principal of Lemery Pilot School; Filomena Mercado-Hernandez; Myka Rosal, Binibining Kalikasan 2012; Hon. Vice Mayor Daniel Reyes, Municipality of Agoncillo; and Gen. Danilo Lim.
The candidates were judged through the following criteria: beauty of face and figure – 40%, poise and grace under pressure – 30%, and judges impact – 30% for a total of 100%.
An audio visual presentation displaying the candidates’ activities and pictorials were shown and was followed by a production number from V Crew Dance Company.
After hours of waiting, the 16 candidates for Binibining Lemery Global 2012 paraded on their respective national costume, heading the line is Yvette Hernandez, the reigning Binibining Lemery. You might be wondering why there’s “Global” on the pageant title. It’s because all of the candidates have either their mother or father working abroad and the costume each lady was wearing represents the country where their parents are currently employed.
Half of the candidates represented Italy while the others represented France, Jeddah, UK, Guam, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Korea, and USA.
The pageant night was divided into four competitions: National Costume Competition, Casual Wear Competition, Swimwear Competition, and Formal Wear Competition.
Ten special awards were given away, five of which went to this year’s title holder, Cristina Trishia Rosas. These include Best in Production Number, Best in Casual Wear, Star of the Night, Best in Swimwear, and Best in Formal Wear.
Other awards went to Joana Marie Gregorio – Ms. Friendship, Mikko Carandang –People’s Choice, Danelle May Collado – Ms. Photogenic, Jenneth de la Rosa – Texter’s Choice, and Claryn Anda – Best in National Costume.
From 16, the candidates were trimmed down to Top 8 after the Formal Wear Competition. The Top 8 Semi-Finalists are Jaimel Jane Obrador (#9, Brgy. Sinisian West), Andrea Malabanan (#7, Brgy. Mahayahay), Claryn Andal (#4, Brgy. Wawa Ilaya), Cristina Trishia Rosas (#11, Brgy. Ayao-Iyao), Juby Ann Villanueva (#12, Brgy. Tubigan), Mary Jane Reyes (#10, Brgy. Wawa Ibaba), Nikaleene Kaila Villalobos (#5, Brgy. Arumahan), and Michelle Chloe Manalo (#1, Brgy. Nonong Casto).
After the Top 8 semi-finalists were announced, all scores went back to zero and this time, the only gauge for the judging is the candidates’ intelligence. The Top 8 picked one question each. Tough questions there, ha.
Then from Top 8, the Final 5 were chosen. In the final portion of the competition, the candidates were asked to pick a number that corresponds to a picture which they will describe or say something about. Since the pageant was over and done, our favourite answer was from Candidate #4. Claryn’s picture was a crown and in a very casual and straightforward remark, she said: “For me. Hindi ko sinasadya pero ito ang pinapangarap ko.”
