Crafts from Trash exhibited by MENRO Rosario at SM

From paving blocks, hollow blocks, ballusters and cement tiles to window trimmings and decorative materials, the people of Rosario Batangas through its Mayor, Hon. Felipe Marquez and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources officer Ms. Cynthia Artista exhibited some of their ingenious craftsmanship through the use of recyclable, biodegradable and residual wastes in their area.

The exhibit, entitled as “Trash to Craft” aims to promote the different ways and technologies by which the people can reduce wastes and at the same time gain livelihood from doing such. One of the best example is the production of window treatments from candy wrappers and cut foil packs. With an ingenious solution of turning these materials into decorative ornaments, the amount of wastes dumped into dump sites will be reduced.

The exhibit was launched last June 2 and will last until June 5 at the second floor of SM City Lipa.

These beautiful native ornaments are made up of dried mahogany tree flowers and fruits.
These colorful window treatments/curtains are made up of candy wrappers and foil packs which are folded and sewn.
This organic fertilizer is made up of biodegradable wastes collected from the Public Market and poultry farms of Rosario.
These paving blocks are partly made up of ground plastic bags.
This beautiful jade-like home ornament is made up of soft drink PEP bottle cut and twisted into a plant shape.
