SM City Lipa Celebrates a Special Day for Special Persons
In celebration of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Month, SM City Lipa together with Lipa City Councilor Concon Hernandez and Lipenyong Aaruga sa May kapansanan o Espesyal na Sektor ng kailangan ng Alalay (LAMESA) staged a whole day
affair dedicated for the welfare and fun of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The day started with a morning mass at the atrium of the mall where special seats were reserved for PWDs and to make sure that the message of the mass is understood by persons with hearing impairments, one person was tasked to interpret it through sign language while the mass is going on.
A morning snack was served afterwards at the Foodcourt, which was immediately followed by a fun and adrenaline raising “relay on wheels” – a relay race for the physically-challenged, particularly those who are using wheel chairs. Winning the said game are Dennis Laya and Andrew Bernardo.
World of Fun on the other hand sponsored a videoke challenge where Porferio De Guzman emerged as the ultimate Videoke King. Other activities include the games of chess, dama, trip to Jerusalem which were participated upon by deaf-mute children and other fun
games sponsored by Jollibee.
With a short message, Ms. Nenita Hablado, LAMESA President acknowledged the efforts of SM City Lipa for always being the first establishment in the City to implement laws in connection with the welfare of PWDs. She (Hablado), at the same time is grateful for the
initiatives the mall is giving for staging a fun day dedicated solely for the PWDs.
