Lima Park Hotel’s Asian Flavours Celebrates First Anniversary

Buffet lunch. Oh, how can you resist such temptation?

Yesterday, the team was invited in the first anniversary of Asian Flavours, Lima Park Hotel’s restaurant. Buffet lunch was prepared for the invited guests (mostly are bloggers from Manila) and it was another extravagant presentation of dishes enough to make us all hungry just by looking at them.

Filipino Flavour

The buffet lunch showcased Filipino cuisine. There were a couple of appetizers (Ensaladang Mangga, Poached Vegetables, Ensaladang Labanos, and a sayote salad) and the Southern Chicken Binakol Broth which Gerlie tried and said was good. Other viands were Tanglad Roasted Chicken, Inihaw na Liempo, Crispy Lumpiang Gulay, and Kalderetang Bakang Batangas. Then we had Turon Con Latik and Saging Con Leche.

We had almost everything in the buffet on our plates. Mukhang napalaban kami dun ah. When you know you are about to eat a lot, you shouldn’t be indulging more on chatting if you don’t want to lose the appetite. Mabubusog ka kasi agad, sa kwento pa lang. So we munched and tasted the meals as if we were pro food critics.

JR and Gerlie feasted much on the poached veggies. Alva complemented the roasted chicken for its tenderness and remarked there’s no need for the sauce as it was tasty as it is alone. I like the beef kaldereta. I’m a fan of ensaladang mangga but it was cut into strips I don’t know how to eat them without messing up.

Batangas Produce in Asian Cuisine Fusion

Chef Paul Poblador, Lima Park Hotel’s executive chef, brings a lot of Filipino ingredients into a new level by using them to produce an exciting dish that’s basically a fusion of anything Asian. After lunch, he presented four of his best salads which made me crave for another round of tasty meals.

The Chicken Teriyaki Caesar Salad, the one closest to his heart, has basic salad pieces and flavorful teriyaki. The dressing has bagoong Balayan as base. Chef Paul shared that they use Batangas produce in their dishes, from backyard-grown vegetables to Batangas beef and chicken.

Next one’s a surf and turf salad with pan-seared shrimp and beef. There’s the traditional lumpia or spring rolls again. And the last one is a special salad called Ensalada SGB (named after Lima Park Hotel’s owner, Saturnino G. Belen). This one’s made of arugula greens topped with itlog na maalat and adobo flakes with red onion emulsion as dressing.

For dessert we had Calamansi Lime Pie and the Barako Coffee Jelly which the team preferred more than the former. Wink.

Food Fest, Always…

Asian Flavours has monthly food festival, focusing more on Asian cuisines but lately they have included Italian dishes, perhaps for a well-rounded menu. Best sellers of the restaurant are from the array of Japanese, Thai, and Filipino cuisine. Lima Park Hotel was formerly owned and ran by a Japanese corporation that’s why the Japanese menu from back then was absorbed by the current one.

Bong Evangelista, Jr., Assistant General Manager of Lima Park Hotel, gave us a glimpse of the special offerings they have in Asian Flavours. As mentioned earlier, they have the monthly food festival where they highlight a cuisine for a month. Last month was Thai cuisine, this October they have the BBQ festival in celebration with the Oktoberfest. For November, they’ll have Korean cuisine and December will be for Chinese cuisine.

August of this year, they launched a special promo for the 15th and 30th day of every month. Asian Flavours has 7-meal course buffet, lunch and dinner, for only P250. This monthly promo is like a treat for people who want to enjoy pay day with good food in a restaurant with good ambience.

Asian Flavours also caters for hotel functions. Clients can decide what to include in the selection. The ala carte, according to Mr. Evangelista, is a fusion of the basic dishes of Asian Flavours.

Thanks to the management of Asian Flavours for that wonderful invitation. We had fun over lunch yesterday and the quartet who sang for all of us were fantastic. 🙂

Congratulations on you first anniversary! We hope for another year of fabulous dishes and fun dining experience.
