The Mahaguyog Festival of Sto. Tomas, Batangas

Mahaguyog, the mixed word for “Mais, Halaman, Gulay, Niyog”, is a festival annually celebrated in the Municipality of Sto. Tomas to honor the bountiful blessing showered to the town. It’s usually celebrated at the last week of February to March 7.

The origin of the festival dates back on early days where vast plantations of corn or Mais creates a golden shine on the fields of Sto. Tomas. It is told that the town is really known for being an exporter of good quality corns. As time goes by, more and more crops were being tilled one by one on the land of Sto. Tomas.
