You might have heard or read about the ‘weird’ essay questions that bewildered recent UPCAT takers. Some thought the questions should have been more formal and more sensible given the fact that at stake are those senior high school students’ chances of entering UP. While some, well they found the questions amusing.
According to the online report via gmanetwork.com, these questions were meant to look “for correct grammar, a command of language, and a dose of imagination” from the examinees.
Ikaw, kung UPCAT examinee ka, matutuwa ka o madidismaya sa pagsagot ng ganitong klaseng essay question? Ano ang mas complicated, senseless na tanong o senseless na sagot?
When I browsed the timeline of the Twitter hashtag #RejectedUPCATEssayQuestions, I can’t help but laugh on what people were actually contributing. At hindi madaling mag-isip ng mga tanong na pipiga sa utak ng mga taong sasagot.
Tulad ng mga tanong na ito (na ang sources ay hindi na nalaman dahil lifted lang ang mga ito mula sa compilation sa blog na ito)…
• Anong meron sa eggs ng Angry Birds at ninakaw ito ng mga baboy?
• Is this the real life or is this just fantasy?
• Ano ang mas malaki bagpack ni Dora? O bulsa ni Doraemon? Justify your answer.
• Kung si Squirtle ay isang water pokemon, anong klaseng pokemon si Myrtle? Ipaliwanag.
• Kung bilog ang mundo, bakit meron silang tinatawag na apat na sulok nito?
• Bakit walang side mirror ang eroplano?
• Kung ikaw si Batman, sinong bahala sa’yo?
• Where do broken hearts go? (Follow-up question: Can they find their way home?)
• Sinong kumagat sa Apple logo? Iexplain bakit hindi niya inubos.
• Ano ang boiling point ni Agua ng Agua Bendita?
Now, how will you answer these questions? Gusto mong mas madali? Mag-submit ka na lang ng tanong. 🙂
