Darlene May Reyes of San Pascual Wins Mutya ng Batangas 2012

When the loveliest Batangueñas gather together in one remarkable event, it could only be one night we call the Mutya ng Batangas 2012 pageant.

On December 5, 2012, another lady was crowned Mutya ng Batangas – the one who stood out among all the contenders; the one who has got a well-rounded personality and physical attributes to look for in a beauty queen. Darlene May Reyes of San Pascual is Mutya ng Batangas 2012.

The early part of the program was intended for the speeches of Mayor Sonia Torres-Aquino of Tanauan City, the host city of Ala Eh! Festival 2012, and Ms. Emelie Katigbak, Batangas Provincial Tourism Officer.

Bb. san pascualA vigorous dance number from Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe fired up the evening which led to the parade of the Mutya ng Batangas 2012 candidates in their elaborated Batangas Costume. The 22 stunning ladies exuded confidence and pride for the municipalities and cities they represent. The cheers from their respective supporters encouraged the candidates even more, reflecting the spirit of unified Batangueños.

Then the pageant hosts Bobby Yan, Diane Querer, and Earvin Querer went on stage. AVPs from the pre-pageant were shown, then thanking-the-sponsors part filled the gap before the candidates returned on stage.

The candidates sashayed on the entirety of the stage donned in their casual asymmetric dress from Saplot by Nante Robles. The first set of special awards was given on this part. Please see the list below.

An intermission number by beat boxer MC Crock followed. After his performance, Vice Governor Mark Leviste gave a few words. Then the much-awaited portion came after. Oh yes, it’s the swimsuit competition!

This is the part when cameras went busy again as bare skin and sky-high heels magnetize the eyes of the spectators. The two-piece swimwear was also created by Batangueño designer Nante Robles. The second set of special awards was given on this portion. Again, please refer to the list below.

Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe transformed the vibe into a cultural feast with their ethnic dance number.

After a few words from the hosts, the candidates then appeared wearing the creation of Oscar Peralta for the Filipiniana long gown competition. Pilipinas Got Talent Season 1 finalist, Markki Stroem serenaded the Mutya ng Batangas candidates who also caused a lot of hearts in the audience melting with his attractive voice and undeniably good looks.

The 22 candidates were trimmed down to the top 10 semi-finalists. The candidates who entered the semi-final cut were Darlene May Reyes (San Pascual), Annabelle Rianzares (Sto. Tomas), Rose Ann Tumbaga (Padre Garcia), Kaycie Lyn Fajardo (Agoncillo), Marjorie Walangsumbat (Taysan), Kristel Guelos (Tanauan City), Aina Nicole Bautista (Taal), Kristel Homoroc (Mabini), Febe Louridhee Ilagan (Calaca), and Beata Sarita Sunga (Balayan).

In case you haven’t heard it yet, an untoward event occurred (a fire inside the venue to be exact) at the beginning of the question and answer segment for the semi-final round. It caused around half an hour of hiatus but the show must go on and a new queen must be crowned.

So the ball rolled and the last girls standing gave it their best shot in the dreaded Q & A portion. Until the five finalists were chosen and a new Mutya ng Batangas was crowned.
