Sunday morning of May 19, there were 457 people who got up earlier than the usual to participate in Mary Mediatrix Medical Center’s Run for Wellness, a fun run spearheaded by the Weight Management Center. The event was held at Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa City.
You’ve heard about countless of fun runs held each year for notable reasons linked to various advocacy as in environment protection, education, promoting healthy lifestyle, or building funds for typhoon victims. MMMC’s Run for Wellness is one good example for encouraging more people to live healthy and get active.
Running may not be the fastest way to lose weight, but it still is one effective way to shed extra pounds. It does not stop from there though. Some studies reveal that longer, slower runs yield more weight loss effects than shorter, faster runs.
MMMC’s Run for Wellness was made possible through the efforts of the participants, the organizers, and the doctors and health practitioners who also joined in the activity – Ms. Baby Permentilla, Chief Dietician of Weight Management Center; Dr. Rommel Lojo, MMMC Assistant Medical Director; Dr. Eliza Mei Francisco, Head, Weight Management Center; Dr. Roy Gonzales, President, Lipa City Medical Society; Dr. Boner Jose Napiza, Chairman, Department of Anesthesiology; Dr. Myla Napiza, Vice President, Lipa City Medical Society; Gerard Maranan of Nutritionists-Dietitians Association of the Philippines, Batangas Chapter.
