Project KaLIKHAsan Immerses Local Artists in Plein Air Session at Mt. Gulugod Baboy

45 Batangueno artists participated in the KaLIKHAsan Project at Mt. Gulugod Baboy on February 24.

Artists from Arte Bauan, Arte Likha, Kunst Filipino, and Arte Pulang Bato from BTIHS took part in a Plein Air session highlighting the serene landscapes of Mt. Gulugod Baboy at Mabini, Batangas.

This activity served as a platform not only for the local artists’ camaraderie but also fostered a vibrant and nurturing environment for the art community, marking a significant milestone in celebrating and promoting the arts and the Batangas’ outdoors.

A plein air session refers to the practice of painting or drawing outdoors, capturing the natural environment and its ever-changing light and atmosphere directly onto a canvas or paper. This artistic approach originated in the 19th century and is named after the French expression “en plein air,” which means “in the open air.” Plein air sessions allow artists to immerse themselves in nature, observe and interpret the world around them, and create works that often convey a sense of spontaneity and freshness.
