Batangas State University- Malvar Campus is once again leading engineering innovations in CaLaBarzon as it inaugurated its Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC), a first in the region, October 7.
According to a facebook post of DOST Batangas, The center is among the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) initiatives to boost engineering research and development in the region by providing advanced facilities for students and industry professionals to collaborate on innovative projects. Its establishment is expected to strengthen CALABARZON’s position as a hub for technological advancements in the metals and engineering sector.
In an interview with WowBatangas.com, Batangas Stae University President Tirso A. Ronquillo said the center will complement existing laboratory equipment and will provide more hands-on activities and opportunities for the students.
Joining President Tirso A. Ronquillo in the ceremony were DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Leah Buendia, DOST-MIRDC Executive Director Robert Dizon, DOST Regional Director Emelita Bagsit, and BatStateU Malvar Chancellor Amado C. Gequinto. Also present were representatives from the SUCs in CALABARZON, industry partners, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the metals and engineering sector.
