Last year, an estimated 50 to 100 million people around the world switched off their lights for Earth Hour. Global landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, Rome’s Colosseum, the Coke billboard in Times Square and Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai also took part and darkened for one hour.
For this year, the Earth Hour aims to reach 1 billion people around the world in more than 1000 cities involving business, government and the community in the world’s largest global action on climate change on 28 March 2009.
Here in Batangas, tarpaulins about this Earth hour can be noticed in towns. The Batangas II Electric cooperative Inc. (Batelec II) and National Electrification Administration (NEA) are now strengthening their campaign about this act on saving the world from global warming.
Save Energy! Save the World! Be part of the Earth Hour! Let us all support the second year celebration of the Earth Hour by VOLUNTARILY TURNING OFF ALL LIGHTS on MARCH 28, 2009 for 1 HOUR from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
