Matching their dapper suits, the participants of the 2024 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride- Batangas Leg flexed their vintage and retro motorbikes and rode around the famed Taal Lake last May 19.
“We ride safe and slow as we also promote prostate cancer awareness and men’s mental health,” Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Organizer Mr. Elmer Reyes said in an interview with Wowbatangas. It was also an event for people to meet new friends and acquaintances with the same passion.
Particularly, the participants of the Batangas leg enjoyed the absence of heavy traffic. “Hindi masyadong traffic dito compared sa Manila, and there are so many nice places, and nice people,” Reyes continued. The riders proceeded to Balete, passing through a couple of scenic views and historic landmarks which enthralled some of the bikers who are “first-timers” in the route.
The ride concluded in Batangas Lakelands where riders get to relax and unwind with friends old and new.
The “Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride” is a global motorcycle event that raises awareness and funds for men’s health, particularly prostate cancer and mental health. It was founded in 2012 by Shane Parent, a motorcyclist and entrepreneur, in memory of his friend, Mark Hannibal, who died from cancer. The event encourages men to dress up in their finest attire, typically 1920s-inspired attire, and ride their motorcycles with friends and fellow enthusiasts while raising money for men’s health charities.
