Four new facilities were officially opened and blessed at Mary Mediatrix Medical Center yesterday, February 08, 2019 including the Pediatric Charity OPD, Pediatric ICU, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinic and the launching of this called Menopause Unit.
The MMMC quoted on bringing the menopause outside the closet since the people who are into it especially women are lacking on information relevant to them.
According to Dra. Caringal, Head of Menopause Unit, Menopausal Stage happens at age 45 and above, the services being offered at the unit is for the women who are into this condition including those who don’t have menstruation for a year, and for that complete history and physical exams determine what test needed and what pieces of advice are suitable for them. She also emphasizes the signs of the menopausal stage, the hot flushes, having a hard time sleeping, becomes forgetful, loss of interest to sexual matters and etc.
She also mentioned that the quality of life of menopausal women depends wholly to them if they are going to still be a help to themselves, to their family and to the community or not at all. Women’s awareness of this matter is a must.
Dra. Caringal has an advice to all women and it is to “ Buksan ang inyong kalooban para mabigyan ang sarili nyo ng information kung kayo ay menopause at dahil may alam na kayo nasa inyo na rin kung anong dapat nyong gawin”
