Last Sunday, February 12, I ran for love.
There were a lot of fun runs in the past years organized by different groups here in Batangas. But it was only in JCI Lipa’s Run for Love 2012 that I was able to join officially. Before, I was either taking photos of the participants or getting details for the post-article to be delivered.
I was excited about three things for that fun run: (1) running with my friends, (2) getting the motivation to start a more active lifestyle, (3) wearing red top to show off my relationship status. Haha. Seriously.
It was a bit disappointing that my guy friends who told me they’d be joining were not able to make it. Oh, I’ve seen that coming so I did not expect any of them to show up, the thought would only ruin the day. Peace men!
It was Gerlie who ran with me and I was just so happy we were both excited to run. I was late (as usual) and did not make it in time for the group warm up. That made me a bit worried for I haven’t done any exercise lately.
Last year, I started playing badminton again as part of our team’s recreation activities. But then it took another hiatus so I’m back to having no physical activity to work out my lazy bones. Haha.
Now, after joining the Run for Love, I feel like including running in my weekly schedule. Oh, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this plan to push through.
Gerlie and I were in red for the run. Red top for those who are in love (or married); pink/blue for single/looking for someone; white for those practicing celibacy; yellow for ‘it’s complicated’; green for family with kids. We saw a lot of participants in red. Nice!
We were not after the prize of any sort or for finishing in the top 10. We were there to support the event and to actually experience it. We had a great time and we were proud that Gerlie and I finished the run without shortcuts, without thoughts of giving up.
Geez, I realized the need to have a more active lifestyle. It was hard to run continuously even for two or three minutes! And I don’t see competitiveness and endurance there. Sigh.
We should all take steps in living a healthier and more active lifestyle. If you think so, do it soon before any ailment strikes you and stop you from doing any physical activity.
