A day before the national elections on May 10, a special celebration will occur for the most special woman in our lives – our mother. It’s Mother’s Day on May 9 and that means payback time for us dear kids!
How will you spend Mother’s Day this year? Mother’s Day in the Philippines is celebrated just like how other festivals are usually celebrated. The family goes together to hear mass, eat out afterwards or have special meal at home, give gifts to Mom, and do a little sacrifice for her.
Mother’s Day is a very emotional celebration for most people. Whether your mom is still living or not, it’s just right that you pay tribute for all the sacrifices she done for you all these years. Batangueños are known for their barako image. But each one of us has our own soft side – a thoughtful, sensitive child still lies within us no matter how we conceal it.
There are tons of ideas on how to celebrate Mother’s Day, one-click on your internet browser and a million searches will be available for you to choose from. But these ideas all boils down to one important thing – to show mom how much you love and appreciate her. Give her a call, send her a text message, or greet her in a way beyond the usual.
I personally couldn’t thank my mom enough for how much she understands me every time I have moodswings. She’s always been the most understanding person I know. And when my dad got sick in July of 2009, it was the time she transformed from a simple housewife to an all-around Supermom whom I know has been hiding inside her eversince.
The other night, we had a fight over, uhm, a frog that jumped inside my room. I’m not really expressive in words directly telling her how I love her or how sorry I am for doing something annoying. But we’re malambing in actions, we hug each other and sometimes I cuddle next to her like I’m still her little baby girl. Mom, I love you and thank you so much. 🙂
Sa lahat ng mga Nanay, Mommy, Inay, Mamita, Momsie sa buong mundo, Happy Mother’s Day po sa inyo!

My Mom’s never the best in the world. She will never be.
She commits mistakes in judgment. She fails to attend my needs sometimes. She scolds me much and compliments me less. She does not give me anything I want. She used to “palo-my-pwet” me when I was young. I hate it when she gives me rings when I am not home yet. She sometimes forgets to prepare my meals. And she never lulled me to sleep.
She does not hug me or kiss me often.
But she always tries to understand. She says sorry when she makes errors and fails to attend my needs. She scolds me much to remind me of the things I have to know. She compliments me less to keep my feet on the ground. She does not give anything I want but she always does her best to give me everything I need. She had to hurt me so that I will know what discipline is. She gives me rings because she cares for me, especially when I’m far off. She intentionally forgets to prepare my meals to make me aware of my responsibilities. Yes, she never sang a lullaby for me but I know she always watches over when I’m asleep.
She does not hug me or kiss me often but she always makes me feel LOVED. She never fails.
I’ll always be thankful that she’s my Mom.
Yes, she’s never a perfect one. My Mom’s never the best in the world but she’s always the best one for me. I love you Inay and I always will. ^_^
