With precise obedience, agility and charm, dogs from different towns here in Batangas participated in the Dog Show Fun Match Responsible Pet Ownership for a Rabies Free Batangas. This was held last December 3 at the SM City Lipa transport terminal as part of the celebration of the 429th Foundation Anniversary of Batangas.
This was headed by Dr. Nilo Lindog, designated assistant provincial veterinarian. According to Dr. Lindog, because of the success of their previous dog shows, they continued doing this activity. This dog show is their fourth one. Additionally, this event was organized to gather people and promote awareness about the dangers of rabies.
Forty dogs participated in the show, marking the success of the event as it was not anticipated by the organizers. According to them, no one confirmed during the promotion of the event but to their surprise, a lot of dog handlers showed up on the registration, more than they expected.
On the first part of the program, a documentary film was shown in relevance with the effects of rabies. Prevention of rabies infection was also discussed afterwards. Likewise, the film showing informed the handlers about the proper sanitation needed in caring for pets specifically dogs. There was also a free anti-rabies vaccination.
The contest proper was divided into six categories: small, medium, and large mixed breed, exotic breed, PVO’s choice, best-man-animal relation, and dog of the year category. The dogs together with their handlers showed what they got through modeling which showcased their obedience as well as their alertness.
The dogs handled by the following handlers won in the following categories:
1st Placer in Small Breed Category – dog handled by Gerald Marasigan
1st Placer in Medium Breed Category – dog handled by Mark Anthony Laustein
1st Placer in Large Breed Category – dog handled by Iluminado Vidal
Best in Mixed Breed Category – dog handled by Hannah Paula Magana
Champion in Dog Obedience Category – dog handled by Moises Manguiat
PVO’s Choice – dog handled by Gerald Marasigan
Dog of the Year – dog handled by Gerald Marasigan
