On Sunday, April 5, 2009 will be the feast day of San Vicente Ferrer. And here in Batangas, St. Vincent Ferrer Parish at Banay-Banay, Lipa City is known to be frequently visited by those sick old and young devotees from different parts of the Batangas and nearby provinces. Inside this church, Little St. Vincents (Kids dressed like St. Vincent) are noticeable. This is because of their “panata” or strong devotion to the said Saint, the patron of the builders.
Though seemed to be the Patron Saint of the sick (specially here in Batangas,) St. Vincent Ferrer, is the patron saint of builders because of his fame for “building up” and strengthening the Church: through his preaching, missionary work, in his teachings, as confessor and adviser.
Meanwhile, Banay-banay folks are celebrating their town fiesta a day ahead of the saint’s feast day. And so from WOWBATANGAS, Maligaya at Mapayapang Kapistahan!
